Designed for use with split pistons, the seals are precision molded rubber elements reinforced with rubberized fabric. Type DPW is equipped with a clip-on anti-extrusion bearing ring on the OD. Increased machining clearance between piston crown and cylinder bore to allow higher working pressures. Polyacetal bearing rings also support the piston crown under side load conditions and prevent metal-to-metal contact. Since the bearing ring is an integral part of the seal, it reacts directly to the operating pressure and closes the discharge gap. The seals are designed with sufficient radial cross-sectional interference to provide a low pressure seal when fully assembled. The supporting rubberized fabric has the function of retaining the sealing medium, reducing friction and wear. Style DPW has proven effective in a variety of applications.
